2005: Sweden Rock with NAZARETH & Wolf Hoffman of ACCEPT
2005: In Sweden for SWEDEN ROCK. This was a transition period for the band and had the only Helix line-up with a female in it-Cindy Weichmann. Cindy had an amazing voice and stage presence. Her husband Rainer played guitar opposite Jim Lawson. On drums was Brian Doerner, who played on the first Helix indie album “Breaking Loose” (showcasing on the cult Helix song Billy Oxygen) and on bass Jeff Fountain. Cindy and Rainer were from Newfoundland. Their band was called KAOS. KAOS opened for us in 1988 when we toured all around “The Rock”. Also in this clip (sitting at the picnic table) is Ami & Rose Doerner (Brian’s daughter & wife), Lynda Vollmer (my wife), and Chuck Sanders (from Thunder Bay-the head of the Musician’s Union there). Standing is longtime Helix fan Cam Burton. The song we’re playing is When the Hammer Falls, from the Walking the Razor’s Edge album.
This year (2017) we are returning to Sweden Rock once again, only this time with 3 of the original 80’s members: Greg “Fritz” Hinz/drums, Daryl Gray/bass, myself. Kaleb has been in the band for almost 9 years now, and Chris has been in since 2014. Both are excellent additions to the team. As well, we have a top notch sound man in Mike Seguin, who has been with the band for over a year now. The last time Sweden we had to use whomever was F.O.H. and available. All were excellent sound personnel but none knew the material. This time around will be different. We are also re-visitng a lot of material that gave us a Number One album in Sweden in 1985 in the first place: Six Strings/Nine Lives, Never Wanna Lose You, and Feel the Fire.
