June 7th/2017 When the Hammer Falls/Sweden Rock
It’s always a memorable time whenever we play Sweden Rock. The first time there (around 2006?) was with a completely different line-up . All were fantastic players (Jeff Fountain/Rainer & Cindy Weichman/Brian Doerner/Jim Lawson) but it didn’t feel like a cohesive unit; at least not what I was used to with the classic 80’s line-up…but my focus at that time period of our career was to keep the band going. This time around Fritz (Gregory Hinz) and Daryl Gray are back in the band. On guitars are Kaleb Duck, who has been in the band for 8 years now, and Chris Julke, who has been a rockin’ member since 2014. Duck was hand-picked by Brent Doerner, who is still associated with the band through videos & album artwork, although he’s retired from the live aspect of Helix.
Sweden Rock is one of the biggest rock festivals in Europe. To understand how massive it is you have to go experience it for yourself…we did! Here we are getting a rush from over 10,000 fans while we rip through When the Hammer Falls, from the Walking the Razor’s Edge CD.
