Here’s some chuckles from our dates in Vancouver and Saskatoon on August 19th & 20th of 2017. The clip starts with us leaving our rented airbnb chalet Holy Smoke on APEX Mountain, 7,000 feet above the town of Penticton, British Columbia. We drove on the Friday morning back to Kelowna and then flew to Vancouver, where we were picked up and driven to our rooms. Later on we hooked up with Chuck Varabioff and visited his B.C. Pain store. As evening fell, Kaleb and Fritz arrived at the hotel after flying in from Toronto. The next day we played around 3:30 in the afternoon to a couple thousand people at Ambleside Park. It was a beautiful summer day and the crowd was up for it. We were followed onstage by Nick Gilder & Sweeney Todd (He’s still got the pipes!), Honeymoon Suite, and Randy Bachman.
The next morning we were shuttled to the airport, flew to Saskatoon, picked up and driven to our rooms at the Bessborough Hotel. We were playing out back on a big stage facing the back of the grand old building, quite a breath taking sight from stage. From one of the windows of the hotel hung a banner reading, “Thanks Kenny for all the music”, referring to recently departed Kenny Shields of Streetheart. It was nice to see the fan respect. R.I.P. Kenny!
This day would have us playing with Honeymoon Suite once again, plus Ian Thomas, and The Stampeders. All three bands have written some great songs. It’s always an honor to share the stage with them.
