1979 HELIX AT AMARILLO COLLEGE: BREAKING LOOSE
Our first independent album on H&S Records was “Breaking Loose” in 1979. We scored a huge hit with You’re a Woman Now in the San Antonio market due to Joe Anthony, who worked at KISS/KAMAC, and at Amarillo College we were getting airplay on the whole album. This was due to program director Chris Johnson. The afternoon we played it was 105 degrees out and a somewhat scattered audience, but we gained numbers during the day. LOL. Looking back at these clips now makes me realize that what we lacked in talent we more than made up for with sheer enthusiasm. Maybe that’s the whole message-sometimes it’s not the people with the most talent that make it-it’s the ones that want it the most.
