1985: CROSSING THE ARCTIC CIRCLE IN SWEDEN
In 1985 we had our first Number One album in the country of Sweden: LONG WAY TO HEAVEN. We embarked on a headline tour of “folk parks” throughout the country, even travelling inside the Arctic Circle. Lenny Stoute, a writer for Metallion Magazine, came over and did a 4 page write-up in the magazine describing the insanity of the whole tour and made us even more famous back home. In these pictures (lifted from home movies from the time period so they’re a little “stretched”) are Ken Heague/road manager (wearing Triumph shirt), one of our promoters (I think his name was Ollie-wearing a denim jacket), Have Hollywood (a roadie so named because he would always wear the most outlandish Hawaiian shirts when he roadied for us in the U.S. In picture he’s wearing a Helix shirt with red lettering), one of the Swedish folk parks we played inside the Arctic Circle, and standing beside a rushing river as we crossed into it. The picture in front of the Arctic Circle sign was taken by Lenny Stoute for Metallion Magazine.
