1975 Keith “Bert” Zurbrigg and his tuxedo

The original bass player in Helix was Keith Zurbrigg.  Everyone called him “Bert”.  Bert used to play a Rickenbacker bass ‘cos he liked Chris Squire  which made him a little out of the ordinary.  But what really set Bert aside was the tuxedo and tails he wore onstage, even on the hottest of days.  Such was the case when we first played Texas at Amarillo College, where the temperature that day was 100 degrees in the shade.  It’s a wonder Bert didn’t pull a Spinal Tap and instantly combust. LOL.
