1983: NO REST FOR THE WICKED

This was our first album release after being signed to Capitol/E.M.I U.S.  in 1983.   The reason I make the distinction “U.S.” is because although we were a Canadian band we were signed to the U.S. label with worldwide distribution.  Dean Cameron, who was the person who would eventually become the president of Capitol Canada, thought it was best for us to be with them.  Oddly, our first single release in Canada was the Eddie Swartz tune “Does a Fool Ever Learn” while in the U.S. our first single release was a song we had written ourselves:  Heavy Metal Love.  The U.S. company had us film our first video for the song, which went to heavy rotation on MTV in the U.S. and garnered a European tour as the opening act for KISS on their Lick It Up Tour.  This was an incredible learning experience for us and would set the precedents for many future tours.

This album went gold in Canada.  I would imagine world wide it has sold roughly 150,000 units, but it’s hard to be sure.  One thing for certain-it’s one of my favorites.
